8th Annual COF Bad to the Bone Golf Classic raises over $100,000

Surgeons, industry leaders, NHL hockey stars and COF friends enjoyed a day on the links at Wooden Sticks Golf Club on Monday, June 24. Prizes for best team, most honest team, putting competition and more were awarded; but the biggest winner was the Canadian Orthopaedic Foundation with more than $100,000 was raised.

Special thanks to host Sherry Bassin, who once again brought a variety of donated, signed and valuable hockey memorabilia for the ever-popular live auction. Thanks, too, to Sherry’s committee members, Lawson Gay, Jenna Shaw, Jim Hall and Rich Parry for their leadership of the tournament.

Up for auction at this year’s tournament were signed jerseys from each Canadian NHL Team. Special recognition, and a personal thank you from Board Chair Dr. Pierre Guy, to the orthopedic surgeons who helped acquire the NHL jerseys: Dr Bill Regan (Vancouver Canucks), Dr David Otto (Edmonton Oilers), Dr Peter MacDonald (Winnipeg Jets) and Dr John Theodoropoulos (Toronto Maple Leafs). Our own Board Director and established hockey leader, Mr Sherry Bassin, called on his network of affiliates and friends to obtain jerseys from the Calgary Flames, Ottawa Senators and Montréal Canadiens to cap off our collection.

Thanks to all who sponsored and participated in the event.  Please visit our sponsor board here.

Work has already begun on planning the 9th Annual Bad to the Bone. Check back in the winter of 2019/20 for more information.
